SINGLE REVIEW: THe Shires’ ‘Wild Hearts’

The Shires are continuing the build-up to their forthcoming studio album ‘The 10 Year Plan’ and following on from the release of the stellar lead single ‘I See Stars’ a few weeks back the duo are back today (Friday, February 25th) with the second song off the tracklist with ‘Wild Hearts’ available to stream and download now.

And it is an absolutely spectacular offering from the singer/songwriters who are heading back to their roots with this new collection stripping away the mainstream pop elements that they have incorporated in recent times and it’s a refreshing return to the sound that put them on the map.

With ‘Wild Hearts’ they instead head into the Americana realm – think The Wandering Hearts – and you’ll get a good idea of the production sounds on this one. It is phenomenally brilliant and the best release from The Shires in recent years, their best possibly since the ‘Nashville Grey Skies’ era it is that good.

The instant ear-worm from the pair starts with a fantastic country/Americana laced soundscape before Crissie Rhodes’ vocal kicks in and then their luscious harmony – this is all mixed with incredibly catchy lyrics and a thumping overlay that will sound fantastic on country music club nights.

The Shires are an exceptionally gifted pair of artists a huge credit to the ever-expanding British country music scene and ‘Wild Hearts’ cements their status as bonafide superstars as they push even further toward global chart success with a song that will land on playlists around the world.
