LIVE REVIEW: Sophia Scott @ Colours Hoxton, London

Last night (Tuesday, December 3) country music took over the Colours Hoxton venue with a headline set from stunning country sensation Sophia Scott with support from Ireland’s most recent rising star Abbie Mac both of who delivered slick and polished sets creating a small taste of Nashville for concert goers.

Abbie Mac kicked off the night with her gorgeous rendition of Megan Maroney’s ‘I’m Not Pretty’ before embarking on a standout 30-minute set that included covers such as Zach Bryan’s ‘Something In The Orange’ and original releases including ‘White Wine Wasted’. She’s fast becoming one of the most talked about country singer/songwriters and last night she proved exactly why. Smooth vocals and easy charm make her a real contender to become next year’s breakout superstar.

After Abbie had warmed up the crowd successfully it was time for the main event, and despite being ill and with her voice beginning to crack Sophia Scott did not disappoint. She pushed through the obvious discomfort her sickness was causing her to deliver one of the best live performances of her career.

The US artist is one of country music’s most exciting exports and the London crowd absolutely adored her last night. Her soaring vocals accompanied by her fun, upbeat personality and brilliant stage presence make her one of the real standouts of the genre and her set last night was nothing short of phenomenal.

Rattling through hits off her ‘Barstool Confessions’ album including ‘You Problem’, ‘Lipstick On You’ and ‘Watering Roses’ she ensured the setlist was littered with those sing-a-long moments and pin-drop ballads ensuring all bases were covered. Fans were also treated to sexy covers of 1975’s ‘Somebody Else’ and AC/DC’s ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’.

Overall, Sophia Scott showcased to the London crowd that she is the real deal. With raw vocal prowess and an arena-ready stage presence, she encapsulated star power at Colours Hoxton.
