EP REVIEW: Kelsey Bovey’s Not Scared Anymore’
Rising country music artist Kelsey Bovey will share her brand new EP ‘Not Scared Anymore’ on Friday, June 26th, and it is a stellar 4-track collection that cements the Bristol performer’s status as a bonafide UK country sensation. The record is led by the hit single ‘Magnetic’ which is a major standout offering from the country sensation.
‘Not Scared Anymore’ kicks off with ‘Out Of Our Minds’ which is a sweetly laced pop crossover offering that shines a light on Bovey’s high octave delivery. It tells the story of falling in love with someone in a mysterious way. Love isn’t always straight forward and neither is that “I’m in love” moment and this track perfectly sums up those feelings.
‘Magnetic’ drives the EP into a different avenue as it heads into a chilled vibe and focuses on falling for somebody different from your usual type. A tale that many will relate to as that first rush is a heady experience and the lyrics of this track perfectly sum up that intoxicating first feeling whilst the epic production elevates it to exciting heights.
This is followed up by the title track which is a mellow song about friendships and the safety of that close bond. It’s all about reflecting on those tough, fun, and memorable moments that are the thread of the relationship and the lyrical approach is all about promising to always be a shoulder to cry on through every up and down.
‘Hold Still’ closes out the record and this is the major standout on the project – it has pop sensibility weaved throughout and is an empowering take on what you would say to someone who once broke your heart. It is a stellar offering from Bovey and one that puts her on the map as a true songwriting talent.
Overall ‘Not Scared Anymore’ is an eclectic mix of pop-infused country anthems and stripped back ballads that all showcase Kelsey Bovey’s stunning vocal display and impressive writing skills. The record is available to pre-save right now ahead of its official release next week.
