EP REVIEW: Phoenix Morby’s ‘Shieldwall’
With August now halfway through, artists across the globe are now beginning to announces releases for September and one of those artists is Brit country performer Phoenix Morby who has confirmed that his brand new EP ‘Shieldwall’ will be dropping on Tuesday, September 22nd.
The forthcoming project is a five-track offering that delivers an eclectic sonic fusion of impressive lyrics, country esque productions, and a strong vocal display from Morby as he showcases the artistry that is deep-rooted in his musical output. With this impressive EP, he also shines a light on his ever-growing mature stylistic.
Throughout, the project offers a standout country-rock sound that elevates the whole sonic sound to heady heights and allows for Phoenix Morby to showcase his stellar songwriting talents thanks to the intricate stories ingrained throughout the songs featured on the tracklist while the production which has been created by Donna Marie delivers a fresh British take on the country crossover sound.
Major standouts on the record include ‘You’ which is a softer style track that gives Phoenix the chance to give listeners a stripped-back guitar-led offering that drives the whole EP into stunning new avenues while ”Rock N Roll and You’ gives a hugely impressive anthemic thumping delivery.
Overall, ‘Shieldwall’ is a standout release from Phoenix Morby that is his best body of work to date and is a project that allows him to dabble in new stylistics and sonic backdrops whilst giving listeners a familiar enough sound that they will delight in listening to from this September when it is made available to download and stream.
