EP REVIEW: Twinnie’s ‘Hollywood Gypsy (Reimagined)

Today (Saturday, April 17th) marks 1 year since country-pop performer Twinnie released her official debut studio album ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ and to celebrate the anniversary the York singer/songwriter has shared a five-track reimagined EP exclusively via Bandcamp featuring a selection of her favorite songs off the tracklist as you’ve never heard them before.

Here we review the record on a track-by-track basis:

Better When I’m Drunk (Reimagined)

Kicking off the new collection is this stunning stripped back version of the anthemic fan favorite – originally produced as a pop-infused smash this toned-down rendition allows the lyrical story to take centre stage and gives it a darker, more meaningful undertone whilst Twinnie’s vocal prowess shines through making for a heartfelt power ballad.

I Love You Now Change (Reimagined)

Striking a power-pop production overlay into the heart of country crossover hit, the English singer/songwriter has crafted a new vibe for the anthemic, empowering song that stands out on this EP as the anchor of the project perfectly straddling both the pop, and country worlds thanks to its strong storytelling lyrics, and radio-ready production backdrop.

Hollywood Gypsy (Reimagined)

This dynamic new rendition of the title track features a funk-infused sonic soundscape that incorporates prominent drum and bass sounds creating a standout stylistic that compliments Twinnie’s soaring vocal and breathes new life into the original version and gives it the chance to go on to become a hit on the dance charts.

Daddy Issues (Reimagined)

This is possibly the most different reimagining on the EP, taking the track back to its core country roots, the British rising star has shown that the lyrical story has a strong enough arc to stand alone with very little production overlay whilst her emotive vocal delivery creates an emotional dimension that gives the song a whole new meaning, making it connect on an even deeper level.

‘Feeling Of Falling (Reimagined)

Already one of the most uptempo songs featured on the original ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ tracklist this latest version sees Twinnie putting a more mainstream pop spin on the track – think Shania Twain meets Dua Lipa and you’ll get a good idea as to how this sounds. It’s a fantastic redefining of the initial offering and a brilliant way to close out the new project.

It’s a credit to how talented a songwriter Twinnie is in the way she’s able to take the songs and completely flip them into new versions. The EP creates a soundscape fusion of Dua Lipa meets Shania Twain.

‘Hollywood Gypsy (Reimagined) is now available to download exclusively from Bandcamp for £3.99
