EXCLUSIVE: Walker County Talk New Single ‘Liar’

Back last week, the fast-rising country-pop duo Walker County wowed with the release of their latest single titled ‘Liar’ which is another excellent taste of the incredible musical talent they possess with the track showcasing their standout vocal harmonies, and stellar songwriting skill.

Here we chat exclusively with Walker County to discuss the track in more detail, past year achievements, and more:

First off, congratulations on being named as 2020 CMT Listen Up and Next Women of Country artists, how did that make you feel?
We are so honored! We grew up watching CMT, and to be recognized by them is a dream come true!

You’ve also recently toured alongside Old Dominion, what was that experience like for you?
Old Dominion and their crew are the nicest group of people! They make sure we are well taken care of on the road! We feel so blessed to get to play in front of their amazing fans each night. Plus, we get to watch an incredible show after our opening set is done and they take to the stage!

And of course, you’ve shared the stage with the likes of Dwight Yoakam, Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn and Martina McBride, how did those slots arise?
After our move to Nashville 7 years ago, we got with a booking agency in town and they were able to get us a bunch of amazing opportunities! We grew up listening to Dwight, Loretta, and Willie, so to be on the road with them and to watch how they interacted with their fans and performed; it is something we will never forget!

And on the back of all that you have a new single out now, how excited are you to share ‘Liar’ with everyone?
“Liar” is such a fun song. We are excited to share it with everyone because we feel it’s a new sound that the fans have not got to hear from us yet!

Can you give us a little insight into the overall writing experience for the track?
A few years back we were driving in the car, talking about boys, as we do, and Sophie asked if I still liked this certain guy. I said no but as sisters, we can tell when the other is lying from a mile away! We took that song idea into the co-write and “Liar” was born!

Who have you worked alongside to bring this song to life?
We wrote this song with Hillary Lindsey and our producer David Garcia. Both are amazingly talented songwriters we were honored to be in the room with!

What are you hoping fans take away from the lyrical story?
Even though heartbreak can be painful and hard to get over, we hope that the listeners can still laugh about some of the crazy stuff we do to feel a little better about the situation. We always say “fake it till you make it” and that’s what this song, when you get down to it, is all about!

Can we expect this single to lead to a full-length album?
We would love to release a full-length album soon! We have so many new songs we can’t wait to share with you all!
