Joey Clarkson Announces New Single ‘December’

On-the-rise country music performer Joey Clarkson is ready to deliver a little hope to listeners this festive season with the release of her brand new holiday single ‘December’ which will be dropping on Friday, December 11th and promises a glimmer of hope to those around the world.

The forthcoming track has been inspired by the current Coronavirus pandemic which has put a stop to many people traveling home for Christmas due to ongoing global restrictions and the lyrical story from Clarkson focuses on an alternative reality where gatherings are permitted.

The poignant release has been penned by Joey Clarkson and her husband Peter Dixon who is a serving member of Her Majesty’s forces and the pair have come up with a truly fitting story arc that fits the realm of a classic country hit and allows fans to be transported to simpler times.

The release will also be accompanied by an official music video a couple of weeks before its release date with Joey asking fans to get involved by submitting videos of them holding signs for loved ones who they are missing this Christmas. The clip promises to be a heartfelt filled visual.

Speaking about the song and its video, Joey Clarkson says: “‘December’ was written the day I came to terms with the fact that I would be unable to see my family this year, and that I would be unable to attend one of my best friend’s weddings. Rather than writing about this heartbreaking reality, I decided to approach this song from the perspective of what it would feel like if I were able to come home for the holidays. Since putting a call out for music video submissions, I have had people reach out from countries across the world; Austria, Canada, Switzerland, Slovenia, The Philippines, the USA, and the UK, to name a few. I am so excited to put everyone’s messages together, and to release what I’m sure is going to be an incredibly poignant and moving music video”.

Whilst Peter adds: “We want to use videos of our friends, family, and listeners, holding up clearly written signs to their loved ones. We want this song, and its music video, to belong to everyone, not just us”.
