LIVE REVIEW: Shania Twain @ Geodis Park
History was made last night (June 7th) in Nashville Tennessee at the new build soccer stadium Geodis Park held its first-ever concert at the stadium with the iconic Shania Twain bringing her Queen of Me world tour to the city and venue for what was a truly memorable evening of live music.
Twain was supported by fellow country music stars Breland and Kelsea Ballerini who both delivered high-energy sets that had the Tennessee crowd in full voice – there were also sombre and reflective moments in both sets which allowed them to put the spotlight on their true artistry and vocal control.
And then it was time for the main event with Canadian native Shania Twain arriving at around 8.45 pm to the opening number ‘Waking Up Dreaming’, but of course, in true diva fashion she made an entrance coming through the crowd before transferring to the stage for the classic ‘Up!’.
This felt like a coming home moment for Shania who moved to Nashville during the early infrastructure of her career and now to see her making history as a global superstar was something incredibly exciting and moving and she delivered a barnstorming set of old and new hits with stunning moments of intimacy thrown in. Those little pockets where she interacts with the crowd, and invites people up on stage is where the true magic lies.
The major highlight of the night for many would have been the medley of tracks from the ‘Up!’ album – those deep cuts such as ‘Nah’, ‘Waiter Bring Me Water’, and ‘When’ were the soundtrack for many fans as kids when they were just discovering Twain and country music in general so that was a huge moment for the die-hard fans in attendance.
And it was that encore moment of ‘Man I Feel Like A Woman’ that will live long in the memory of everyone in attendance with Shania bringing out Tanya Tucker and Wynonna Judd – what a moment for country music fans seeing three iconic women on stage together singing one of the most famous songs of all time.
Overall, Twain showcased just why she is the queen of pop-country with an electric set that showcased her incredible on-stage presence.
