SINGLE REVIEW: Emma and Jolie’s ‘I Don’t Need A Man’

This Friday (July 10th) fast-rising British country-pop duo Emma and Jolie will kick start what promises to be a truly phenomenal career in the music industry with the release of their much-anticipated debut single titled ‘ I Don’t Need A Man’. A fantastic, women empowerment anthem about feeling strong within yourself and shouting loud and proud that you don’t need a man in order to feel complete.

Laced with incredible pop productions which only act to enhance the solid country esque harmonies and lyrical story, the inspiring track is one for women everywhere. Especially those who have been made to feel less just because they have chosen to stay single, this is the song for females across the world who are not ready to settle, and would much rather be with somebody they want rather than need to be with.

Emma and Jolie both have impressive solo voices but the magic truly comes together when the two girls join together for a luscious harmony that is reminiscent of US country duo Maddie and Tae. The two best friends know when to take their foot off the gas in order to let the other shine and this ease of singing together makes for a wonderful vocal that is just stunning.

The combination of the girls’ glorious vocals and the anthemic pop-inspired production alongside the empowering lyrical story is what makes this track stand out and ‘I Don’t Need A Man’ has shades of Maddie and Tae’s ‘Girl In A Country Song’, along with a drizzle of Ward Thomas harmony magic making this is a real hit and puts Emma and Jolie on the map as the “next big thing”.

With incredibly strong lyrics and sing-a-long choruses, this offering is nothing short of outstanding and epic standout lines such as: “I don’t need a man to sing my praises handing me the mic telling me where the stage is, I’m my biggest fan no matter what they’re saying but thanks for the observation. I don’t need a man to tell me I’m pretty I think the mirror does a better job really” this is the calling card to women everywhere to be proud of being truly confident about themselves.

The song is anthemic, feel-good, empowering, and inspiring in equal measure and is an incredible debut offering from an act that look set to become global breakout stars such is their glorious pop hooks and country storytelling skills and divine vocal harmonies.

Overall ‘I Don’t Need A Man’ is a stellar release that incorporates all the stylistics of organic British country music with just a dash of US sonic sounds making it a truly phenomenal single that has all the potential to become a worldwide smash-hit, radios, in particular, will be turning the dial up on this one.
