SINGLE REVIEW: Twinnie’s ‘Whiplash’

As we near the four-month anniversary of the ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ album from Twinnie the York singer/songwriter has sent the seventh song off the outstanding tracklist to radio with ‘Whiplash’ now acting as on official single following on from ‘Better When I’m Drunk’, ‘Social Babies’, ‘Type Of Girl’, ‘Hollywood Gypsy’, ‘I Love You Now Change’, and ‘More’

The anthemic track which has been co-written by Twinnie alongside Tofer Brown and Jamie Kenney sees the English country-pop powerhouse experimenting with the sonic sound and delivers a fresh take on what British country is while the clever lyrical story tells of a real-life motorbike accident with Twinnie using her songwriting talents to turn the event into a take on a relationship that you know is bad for you but still keep returning to.

It’s an incredibly ingenious play on words that in turn creates an epic vision of a car-crash affair that you know is only ever going to end in disaster yet still somehow enjoy the thrill of being in the moment and the adrenaline rush and natural high any encounter evokes; similar to being on a motorbike.

Meanwhile, the epic production that has been created by co-writer Jamie Keeney alongside Twinnie who once again proves that she is an outstanding all-rounder who can effortlessly produce, write, sing, and play on any one of her songs is one of the most impressive sonic backdrops you’re likely to hear on a country record and is reminiscent of early years Shania Twain as the pair take risks in using a variety of genre stylistics to create the overall vibe.

The track also features an epic bridge with an incredible production drop that is one of the best you’re ever going to hear and allows for the song to change gears as it kicks it onto another level breathing new life into the already fire backdrop and makes it a massive crossover anthem.

And it is thanks to the stellar lyrical story and epic production that makes this one of the major standout releases of 2020 and a huge fan favourite off the ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ tracklist.
