Willie Lock Announces New Single ‘Merry Christmas Baby’
With the festive season now in full swing, country-inspired singer/songwriter Willie Lock is getting into the spirit of the holidays by announcing that he will be releasing a brand new single on Friday, December 3rd which will be his own unique version of the classic hit ‘Merry Christmas Baby’.
To put his own spin on the track, Lock has teamed up with renowned music producer Dave Ricco to create a brilliant country/rock infused production backdrop to ensure that it sounds fresh to the ears of listeners around the globe who will be familiar with the holiday song from multiple artists sharing it every year.
For his version, Willie Lock has taken inspiration from Hanson’s rockier cover allowing for it to have a stellar country crossover vibe that brings a new lease of life to the festive offering and gives the US performer the opportunity to showcase his own artistry and put the spotlight on his vocal prowess.
Speaking about the track, Willie says: “When I first had the idea to do a Christmas song this year, I wanted to create a country/rock vibe to one of my favorite holiday classics, Merry Christmas Baby. The Hanson version on their “Snowed In” album is one of the best renditions out there, so we drew some influence from their track and added in a bit of my own flair–with a lot of vocals and big harmonies that really make the song pop. My buddy Dave Ricco did a great job with the production, and we just had an absolute blast in the studio making this one”.
The forthcoming release from the multi-skilled artist follows on from the poignant original single ‘My Brother’ which was shared across all leading digital download and streaming platforms earlier in the year with the track quickly becoming one of the fans’ favourite releases of the year.
