EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Morgan Johnston Talks Upcoming Single ‘Circle Of Love’
On Friday, September 23rd, fast-rising country music talent Morgan Johnston will officially release her brand new and hotly anticipated new single titled ‘Circle Of Love’ which will be available to stream and download across all platforms with the track spearheading the start of an exciting new chapter for the performer.
Here we chat exclusively with Morgan Johnston to discuss the song, and to find out what else she has in the pipeline:
Your new single is due later this month, how excited are you to share this track?
I’m so excited – this song was kind of the centrepiece of this entire project. I really feel like “Circle of Love” gives the listeners an accurate depiction of who I am as an artist, a songwriter and a person.
How did you find the writing and recording process for this one?
I wrote this song with my good friends and co-writers, Lydia Dall and Chris Sligh. Lydia is also my roommate and we were carpooling to our write that morning and happened to be talking about the idea that as we are all navigating love, there’s kind of this cycle or circle we go through. We continued talking about the concept that we’re all falling for someone who was somebody else’s which actually ended up being a line in the chorus. That’s how the song was born. It was produced by Noah Needleman and he brought everything to life. He truly knew exactly what the song needed to put it on the next level and show all of the details and emotions.
What are you hoping listeners take away from the lyrics?
I think this song was a big healing point for me and a huge moment in emotional maturity where I was reflecting back on past relationships with no hard feelings. I began honouring the journey and the people in my past and taking it all as a learning experience that put me one step closer to where I’m meant to be and who I’m meant to be with. I just kind of accepted that sometimes it’s not personal when things don’t work out, it’s just the circle of love. I hope that the listener feels the same peace, healing and acceptance from this song.
This single will lead to a new album later this year, can you tell us a little about the project?
Yes! This is my first project ever and I’m SO excited to share it with everyone. It was supposed to be 6 songs originally but I couldn’t help myself and it will now be 7. All of the content, single covers and canvases were shot by my best friend and photographer Julianne Drake in Joshua Tree, CA and the artwork was all designed by my roommate, co-writer and friend, Lydia Dall. The name of the project is “There’s No Going Back” which is a line from the first single off the project. It also holds a bigger meaning behind the career path I’ve chosen and the time I’ve devoted to songs. I’m in it for the long haul and there’s no going back.
What can fans expect from the forthcoming LP?
This LP is a mixture of songs I’ve been working on over the years. It’s bold, flirty, serious, funny and profound all in one.
How does it feel to be releasing so much new music this year?
It’s honestly been life-changing. I’ve been writing songs for 14 years, more professionally for 6, but I have waited such a long time to show these songs to the world and I’m grateful that the time is finally here.

I don’t have an official tour of my own set in place but be sure to follow me on socials to stay in the loop for all of the one-off shows I’ll be playing the remainder of this year and in 2023!
