EXCLUSIVE: Olivia Ooms Talks New Single ‘Hideaway’

Today, (Friday, January 29th) fast-rising country music talent Olivia Ooms releases her outstanding new single ‘Hideaway’ with the standout song being expertly produced by Jamie O’Neal who has done a wonderful job of crafting an overlay that beautifully compliments the lyrical story.

Here we chat exclusively with Olivia Ooms to discuss the release in more detail:

How excited are you to be sharing your new single ‘Hideaway’?

This song has been under my belt for over a year now, so I am so eager to finally share it with the world!

The track has been produced by Jamie O’Neal, what was it like working with her to bring this vision to life?

Jamie herself is such a visionary and a professional, working with her helps bring my crazy ideas into reality. I came to her with this song I wrote with my friend, and we turned it into a full production.

When writing the song, where did you look to for inspiration?

This song was sparked by my own life and new realizations I have developed as I have been maturing over the years.

What are you hoping listeners take away from the lyrical story?

‘Hideaway’ is about letting go of the things you cannot control and being okay with that. I really hope my listeners can take away the message to not be so hard on themselves when things don’t go their way. All we can do is try our best, and the rest is not always up to us.

How does it feel to be releasing new music during this strange time?

It’s really an empowering feeling because it makes me feel more connected with other people during this time where we all are experiencing disconnect.

Did you spend a lot of your lockdown time working on new music?

My lockdown was filled with lots of music and taking up lots of new hobbies. I learned to paint, kind of, I baked a lot, worked on my mental and physical health and of course, music was right there supporting me through these hard times.

Can we expect “Hideaway” to act as a launchpad to a full-length project?

‘Hideaway’ is my first single in quite a while, so I am super excited to focus on sharing it with the world. There may just be some visual aids coming out along with the song (hint hint), so I am very excited to see what comes after ‘Hideaway.’

So, can we also expect an official music video to follow too?

We’ll just have to see about that one 😉

Can you tell us a little about the overall writing and recording process for this release?

My good friend Gabby Neeley and I got together a little over a year ago with no intention of writing my next single. She texted me, we planned a writing session and next thing you know, we have ‘Hideaway.’ She is an amazing pianist, singer and songwriter and her talents continuously inspire me. I definitely want to write with her again once we can all meet up in person.

Looking ahead, what else does 2021 have in store for you?

I focused a lot on my mental and physical health in 2020 and I plan to continue that this year. On top of that, however, I will definitely continue writing and performing when opportunities present themselves! I’m currently a full-time student at a university in California, so that takes up a lot of my time these days but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
