Josh Turner Announces Christmas Album ‘King Size Manger’
Multi platinum-selling country music artist Josh Turner is ready to add another dimension to his incredible catalogue of music by sharing his first-ever Christmas album in early October of this year just ahead of the forthcoming holiday season – ‘King Size Manger’ releases globally on October 8th.
The forthcoming record will be distributed via Snakefarm (UK) / MCA Nashville and will feature a standout tracklist of classic seasonal songs performed in an original and unique way by Turner who is looking to bring a little light-hearted joy to this year’s yuletide season which is much-needed after the struggles of last years due to lockdowns around the world.
The LP also features four original Christmas songs from Josh Turner three of which were written and co-written by the skilled singer/songwriter allowing for the album to have a personal touch alongside the covers of the favourite holiday songs of times gone by – he is also joined by his wife and sons for a family tradition that he was keen to have featured on this project.
In support of the upcoming Christmas record ‘King Size Manger’, award-winning performer Turner will be embarking on a 16-city Holiday & The Hits US tour, culminating at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium venue, where the LP will come to life alongside Turner’s most famous hits.
Speaking about the collection, Josh says: “Making a Christmas record can be a mighty daunting task for an artist. There are so many songs to choose from and there’ve been so many versions of those songs throughout history. It can be intimidating to wonder whether you’ll be able to measure up to what’s already been done, and when I get to that point I step back and remind myself that I have to do what I hear in my heart. You may be surprised to hear my arrangement on some of these songs that you know so well. We had a lot of fun throwing out all the preconceived notions of what a Christmas record should sound like. In my opinion, it’s about the words and the heart and soul of how a song sounds. You don’t need jingle bells on a song to make it a Christmas song.”
