ALBUM REVIEW: The Shires’ ’10 Year Plan’

British award-winning pop-country duo The Shires have this past weekend shared their outstanding new album titled ’10 Year Plan’ which is a celebration of their 10th anniversary as a band and the collection sees them returning to their sonic roots with a tracklist that elevates them to the next level.

The record features an incredible array of country songs that are rooted in traditional sounds whilst they ensure that their own unique sound is put into each song including slight dashes of Brit-pop laced throughout which is especially evident on ‘Sparks Fly’ which is a fantastic crossover offering.

Meanwhile, folk and country styles are the core of tracks including the thumping ‘Wild Hearts’, and the soulful ballads ‘Side By Side’, and ‘I See Stars’ creating a heady mix of sonic stylistics that allow for The Shires to put the spotlight on their outstanding artistry and luscious harmonies.

There is something truly perfect about the way this album brings together inspirations from the last decade – it gives the LP a rich and divine sound that brings together and binds their musical growth over the past 10 years – another major standout is ‘Plot Twist’ which Crissie shines on.

Overall, ’10 Year Plan’ feels like a coming of age body of work from The Shires who have shown with this release that they have truly found their place and have delivered a beautiful tracklist that allows them the opportunity to circle back to the original soundscape that first put them on the map.
