April Jai Releases New Single ‘First Glance’

One-the-rise British pop-country artist April Jai is back with possibly her best release yet with the hard-hitting, and emotive new single titled ‘First Glance’ which allows the singer/songwriter to take further steps into the mainstream pop sphere whilst retaining the storytelling aspect that is at the core of country.

The inspired piano-led ballad comes from an emotional standpoint with April delivering a stunning story-arc that puts the spotlight on her standout songwriting talent with the lyrics focusing on an ex-lover moving on quickly after a break-up and the thought process that it wasn’t cheating but it’s as close as it can come to it.

The track is all about the fall out of what it’s like to see someone you love move onto the next within a couple of days and the wondering that, that when they were with you they were clearly thinking of someone else and couldn’t wait to jump ship so in a way they were already cheating on your love.

It’s deep and powerful and allows April Jai to showcase her understated vocal tone in a way she has never done before and gives her the opportunity to put the spotlight on the growth she has undergone as a lyricist too – this is a stunning release that will no doubt strike a chord with a global listenership.

Speaking about the song, Jai says: “This song was born from the thought of “It wasn’t cheating but it was pretty close” It’s the ultimate heartbreak hit and deals with feelings of not being enough for the one you love and them ultimately breaking your heart”
