EXCLUSIVE: Austin Merrill Talks New Single ‘All In’

Fast-rising country artist Austin Merrill has today (October 16th) shared his brand new single ‘All In’ which his third release of the year so far following on from breakout hits ‘You’ll Come Knocking’, and ‘One More Mile’ all of which showcase his growing vocal and songwriting capabilities.

Here we chat exclusively with Austin Merrill to discuss his latest offering in further detail:

How excited are you to be sharing your new single “All In?”
Somewhere between a beach vacation and Christmas Eve as a kid, that’s how excited I am. I’m really proud of this new track, I think it’s my best work yet, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

Can you tell us a little about the writing and recording experience for this track?
This was my first time working with producer Jacob Rice, who’s one of Nashville’s finest. When we came together to work on this track, it became apparent early on that his vision and talents were going to take this song to new heights. He also brought in Sol Philcox to lay down some tasteful guitar parts and a shredding guitar solo. Recording during a pandemic has its challenges, but that didn’t prevent us from creating music that I think audiences will really enjoy.

Where did you look to for inspiration when bringing the song to life?
I wrote this song earlier in the year to convince myself to fully commit to a relationship I was in at the time. “All In” is a song about taking a chance on love, much like a poker player risks it all on a great hand. I’m a western boy, and I’ve played my share of hands down at the local poker room. That analogy really clicked with me the day I sat down with my guitar and wrote this story.

What do you hope listeners take away from the lyrical story?
Everyone knows love is a gamble, and taking that leap of faith in a relationship is a big risk, whether you win or lose. The important thing is that we keep playing the game. I think that’s a notion many people can relate to.

Do you have any set goals in mind for what you’d like to achieve with this release?
The goal of the music I create has always been to spread it to as many people as possible. I love what I do, and I am blessed to have a very competent and motivated team at the record label to help promote my art. There are many songs that have helped me celebrate or reflect at different points in my life. I hope my music can provide that kind of support for others.

Do you have any plans to share a music video for this song?

How would you say this single compares to your previous offerings?
I’m a 90’s country kid. I love writing songs that are reminiscent of that era, and even though we went more current with this record, I think you can still listen to “All In” and tell that this boy’s got country roots. As a songwriter and an artist, I always try to improve upon my last release. It’s a lifelong journey.

How does it feel to be sharing so much new music during this very strange year?
There’s a lot of uncertainty in our world right now, and I believe music helps people make sense of all that uncertainty. Music inspires and heals, and the world can always use a little more of that, especially at a time like this.

Do you have any unique promotional activities planned for this track?
Obviously, the pandemic has changed the promotional landscape a bit, but the team and I are always cooking up something fun and interesting. Who knows, maybe I’ll start handing out “All In” poker chips with my face on them, haha.

Looking ahead, what does the rest of the year have in store for you?
I’m always working on new music, both writing, and recording. I’m also looking forward to playing live shows again once things start to open up around the country. This release of “All In” is definitely my crowning achievement for 2020, and I look forward to building upon that foundation. And above all else, I look forward to connecting with the fans, because that’s what it’s all about.
