EXCLUSIVE: Christina Taylor Talks New Single ‘I Got That From You’

Late last week, on-the-rise country music sensation Christina Taylor wowed with the release of her heartwrenching new single ‘I Got That From You’ which showcases her impressive vocal tone as she delivers one of the very best songs of the year so far which will go a long way in helping her break the mainstream market.

Here we chat exclusively with Christina Taylor to discuss the song in more detail:

Congratulations on the success you’ve received so far in your career, do you have a personal highlight?

Thank you so much! My personal highlight is my song “As Good As You Look” passing one million streams across all platforms. Knowing that many people have listened to one of my songs is mind-blowing to me!

How has it felt having such a great response to your covers during lockdown?

I did those covers during quarantine to give my fans something to enjoy from me while I was working on music of my own, and it was amazing seeing the response to each song. I will definitely be doing more covers in the future after seeing how much people enjoyed them!

What’s been the most challenging aspect for you in terms of creating and sharing music during this time?

The most challenging aspect was the mental challenges that came along with the pandemic and quarantining. I decided to take some time for myself to spend with my family and recharge and learn how to cope with our new reality at the time. I’m so happy I did because, after that, I was able to feel 100% present mentally when writing the songs that will be coming out this year!

What are you most looking forward to getting back to once normality returns?

I can’t wait to start playing full-band festival shows again! I really love the upbeat aspect of outdoor shows and getting to perform for big groups of people.

You have lots of music on the horizon, how excited are you about sharing “I Got That From You” with fans?

Words truly can’t fully explain how excited I am to get this single out into the universe. I took an entire year off from releasing music to really find myself and my sound, and I feel that this single in particular shows how far I’ve come. It’s a song that has substance while also being fun and something you want to jam to in the car with your windows down.

What kind of vibe can we expect from your upcoming releases?

I really wanted to show the 25-year-old version of me in these next songs. More mature but still super fun. I think my producer, Ben Phillips, and I were able to find a happy medium between the two and come up with a sound no one has heard from me yet.

Do you have any set goals in mind this year?

My main goal this year is for people to truly enjoy and relate to my music. Whatever opportunities and accomplishments that come from that are just the cherry on top.

Looking ahead, what else can we expect from you this year?

You’re going to see a lot of pictures and video content on my social media to go along with each song I release this year. I really wanted to elaborate and show the full story for each song. Stay tuned!!
