EXCLUSIVE: Cody Weaver Talks New Single ‘One About The Devil’

Recently, country music singer/songwriter Cody Weaver wowed with the release of his most recent single titled ‘One About The Devil’ which premiered alongside a truly stellar 1900’s thrill-themed music video marking a pivotal moment in his career that has so far been a huge success across the world.

Here we speak exclusively with Cody Weaver to discuss the track further:

Congratulations on your latest release, how have you found the response so far?

Thank you! So far, it’s been great! You never know what to expect as an independent musician, but the response and sheer numbers have been mind-blowing!

How does it feel to be releasing new music in a time when you’re allowed to actively promote once again?

It feels surreal to get new material out there. We spent almost 2 years on “One About The Devil.”

What’s it been like for you coming back out of the lockdowns with new music?

I’m Florida man, we were never locked down. But it feels great to put out new music! It’s been just under a year since my first EP Southern Noise and it was really awesome to release this project and get such a good response!

How have you found these past two years has affected your musical inspiration?

I have been playing less shows, although it has given me more time to write meaningful lyrics and create new stuff that bends strings, and genres.

Can you give us a little insight into how this latest track came about?

There was a time a few short years ago that I was struggling badly with depression, suicidal thoughts, and PTSD. I was able to pull out of that with a little help, and this song is just about staring down your inner demons, beating the devil within yourself, making things new again. It’s a death and rebirth transformation. Beauty from ashes, as depicted in the ending as it changes from dark to light, and the next generation is revealed!!

What are you hoping fans take away from the song and visual?

I’m hoping they find some truth and courage to defeat whatever demons they may be wrestling with. Suffering is part of life, but there’s hope and we all have the ability inside ourselves to overcome generational curses. I also want folks to see that I’m here, I mean business and doing this as an independent artist was a mission to get it done. I want other artists to see that you can achieve success in your art, without big labels and funding.

Do you have any set goals in mind for this release?

I would like to see this song make some airtime in the US! We’ve been on the radio in different parts of Europe, Brazil, and Australia…so it would be cool to get this on the air here in the motherland!
