EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Alex McEwan Talks New Single ‘hold Your Hands Out To Me’

Country music singer/songwriter Alex Mcewan returns with his brand new single ‘Hold Your Hands Out To Me’ which was written during the lockdown period of 2020-2021 and is the first official single to be lifted off his forthcoming album ‘In A World We Don’t Know’ which releases September 28.

Here we chat exclusively with Alex McEwan to find out more about the track:

Congratulations on the new single, how excited are you to be sharing new music?

Thanks, I always look forward to getting people’s reactions when it’s a song I feel strongly about.

Where did you look to for inspiration when writing this one?

This one is personal, it’s about fond memories of growing up in Glasgow and the West Coast of Scotland and is about loss and a sense of longing for ‘home’, particularly during the lockdown.

What has been the most challenging and rewarding part of the process for this single?

The challenge was to coordinate so many musicians across the UK and US, but it was really rewarding to hear the finished mix, particularly the way in which it all came together and of course get some great responses.

What are you hoping listeners take away from this release?

The song is nostalgic and has a sentimental appeal that I hope resonates with listeners. Maybe people that are away from home, have lost loved ones or feel a sense of wanting to correct their past mistakes.

Do you have any set goals in mind for this song?

I just want to see the song and video get out there and hopefully, I can gain new fans of my music, including in my home country Scotland.

What else does 2023 hold for you?

The release of more singles, the album release and I am headlining a cool venue in Glasgow called the Glad Cafe, plus some other dates in London. Hoping to add some more soon.
