LIVE REVIEW: Lady A @ C2C 2023

Having not been on a UK stage since 2019, US country music band Lady A made a welcome return on Saturday, March 11th at a sold-out O2 arena in London for C2C Festival and it was a triumphant comeback for the trio who are one of Nashville’s biggest and most successful music exports.

The energy in the room was palpable before Hillary Scott, Charles, Kelley and Dave Haywood took to the stage following a weekend of incredible country music from all over the world at the 10-year anniversary of C2C and the noise levels were deafening as the curtain rose for the bands return to British shores.

Lady A never fail to deliver, you know you’ll be thoroughly entertained when you go see them live but this was something extra special. There was a moment of pure clarity and love between the band and the audience, the magic was encapsulated within the 90-minute set as they rattled through old and new hits.

In between their smash hit sing-a-long anthems such as ‘Downtown’, ‘Bartender’, ‘You Look Good’, and ‘Heart Break’ there were also moments of sombre reflection with classics including ‘American Honey’ and ‘I Run To You’ sprinkled in making for an evening of nostalgia and celebration.

There were also snippets of pure authenticity with Hillary Scott playing the piano live for the first time ever, and Charles Kelley opening up about his sobriety and struggle with alcohol addiction – Lady A smashed it out of the park and proved that after 17 years they are still one of the best country bands of our generation.
