EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Justine Blanchet Talks New Single ‘Hard to Love’

Fast-rising Canadian-born, Nashville based country music artist Justine Blanchet is creating quite the storm with her latest release ‘Hard to Love’, and for good reason too. She has showcased her standout vocal tone that leaves listeners captivated and wanting more from the talented musician

Here we chat exclusively with Justine Blanchet to discuss the track in more detail:

Congratulations on the release of your latest single, how have you found the response so far?

Thank you so much! So far, people have been so receptive to this song! So many playlists have added my songs and it’s just a start to my comeback.

Can you give some insight into the writing and recording process for this song?

Kelly Archer, Derrick Southerland, and Courtney Cole wrote this song and I’m super grateful they did. I was pitched a playlist and had to pick three songs from it. “Hard to Love” was among those three because it was relatable to me. Danick is a genius when it comes to building tracks and I also got to be part of that creative process.

What are you hoping listeners take away from the lyrical story?

I hope listeners can take away the fact that it’s okay to leave a relationship when it doesn’t feel right. Self-love is super important and knowing your own worth can help you set standards for the person that will respect you the same way you respect yourself.

How does it feel to be making and releasing music in Nashville?

It definitely feels surreal! Finding like-minded people in Nashville is great and makes me feel like I can be part of a community. I don’t have much of that in my hometown, so it’s nice to get that validation there.

How has the music community in Nashville welcomed you?

The community has been nothing but supportive! There are so many opportunities, and the circle is smaller than you would think. A lot of Canadians are also there so, as one myself, it makes me feel grounded in my roots when I get to work with them.

Do you have any set goals in mind for this track?

I’m really just seeing where it goes, and ultimately I want it to get enough attention to create a bigger buzz for my EP. The EP is set to release next spring.

Looking ahead, what else does 2022 hold for you?

The rest of 2022 is reserved for more creating! I’m going back to Nashville so I can film another music video and get some more music finished for the EP. Lots of exciting things are scheduled for 2023!
