EXCLUSIVE: Joey Hendricks Talks Debut Single ‘Yours Or Mine’

Having built a strong foundation in Nashville as a songwriter, rising talent Joey Hendricks is now branching out with the release of his stunning debut single ‘Yours Or Mine’. The fantastic offering sees him bursting onto the scene as a performer in his own right and showcases that not only is he an incredible songwriter but he is also a truly outstanding vocalist too.

Here we chat exclusively to Joey to discover more about the release of his stellar inaugural offering:

How does it feel to be releasing your debut single?

Feels surreal. The last three years have been spent writing and recording these songs, so I’m super excited to finally get them out.

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the lyrical story?

I wrote it with my good friends Michael Whitworth and Daniel Ross and we just started talking about the beginning stage of getting to know someone. It’s kind of a back and forth of who’s going to be the first one to admit they got it bad for the other.

What do you hope listeners take away from the song?

Just hope it makes ’em feel good.

Can you tell us a little about the writing experience for this release?

It was actually the first time me and my co-writers wrote together and we went on to be really great friends. Daniel Ross is my producer now. A kinda full circle that this is the first song we’re releasing.

You originally planned on focusing on your songwriting career when you moved to Nashville. What motivated you to make the leap into solo artistry, and what has the experience been like so far?

Yeah, I initially wanted to just focus on songwriting, but the artist thing just sort of happened organically and I’m super grateful that it did. It’s been fun to tell my story and watch it all come to fruition.

What are you most looking forward to with the release of “Yours Or Mine”?

I’m most looking forward to actually having music out. It’s been a long time coming and I’m excited for more than just me and my friends to hear it!

Do you have any plans to share a music video for this project?

Yep there will be a music video for it.

Can we expect a full length album to follow in the future?

Absolutely! The end goal is to get a full album out there.

Do you also plan to continue writing for others?

As long as I’m lucky enough to keep writing. I would love to keep writing songs for other artists!

Looking ahead, what else can we expect from you in 2020?

I’ll be releasing more follow up singles after “Yours Or Mine” that I’m super stoked about so stay tuned.
