Here we chat exclusively with Nathan Sheridan to discover more about his newest single:
How excited are you to be releasing your new single?
Very excited. To me, this is one of my sincerest songs to date and is very personal to me especially from a faith perspective. It’s always nice to release a song that you believe in not just musically but also from a personal perspective.
What was the overall writing and recording experience like for this track?
It was different for this one. I actually wrote the song pretty quickly, probably about 30 minutes, and the words really just flowed which is always rare. I did very little re-writing. The recording process was a lot of fun, I worked with a producer named Chris Bevins who really understood what I was trying to do and allowed my input on the song and really believed in my vision. We kept everything organic which was more difficult due to COVID. But it was really cool how all the players recorded basically everything at their homes and how it all came together so nicely.
Where did you look to for inspiration when crafting the lyrical story?
This was really one of those where the inspiration kind of just came, I honestly don’t remember where it came from. I believe God influences all my music so it makes sense to say it came from Him.
What are you hoping listeners take away from the lyrics?
That they can have a fresh start, that God loves them and that we don’t have to hold on to the things of our past. We don’t have to be a slave to those idols. That’s really what I get from the song.
Do you have any plans to release an official visual?
Not as of yet!
Are you hoping to use this single as a launchpad for a full-length project?
Ya know, I’m not sure if this single will represent a full-length project. I’m a bit all over the place musically. I go where the song goes and some of the stuff I’ve been writing recently is completely different than “Take It Away”. I always like doing something new and fresh.
How are you finding the process of sharing new music during this time?
It’s honestly difficult! Social media is completely flooded and obviously, it’s hard to reach fans when that happens but I’m blessed enough to have great fans who are excited about what I’m doing and still pay attention.
Looking ahead, what else can we expect from you this year?
A new record. I’m believing in that. I want a new record done by the Fall, maybe even the Summer. And I also plan on touring non-stop. Live-Music is coming back, I have no doubt. What it will look like may be different but I’m not afraid of a new challenge.
