Half Stack Announce New Album ‘Wings Of LOve’
Indie-country band Half Stack have formally announced the details of their brand new and eagerly awaited studio album ‘Wings Of Love’ with the project dropping on Friday, September 25th. It is set to be one of the most impressive releases of the year with the group offering an old-school sonic style.
The record has been created alongside renowned producer Greg Hartunian and the result is an eclectic LP that offers a scrappy, and fun collection of songs that showcase everything Half Stack represent as a country outfit as they deliver an earnest tracklist filled with standout tracks.
‘Wings Of Love’ came to life when band frontman Pete Kegler lived on an old, yet beautiful 200-acre ranch just north of Half Moon Bay that was previously a flower farm. After finishing the songs with his bandmates in Oakland, they then made a couple of trips to Los Angeles where they recorded with Greg Hartunian, who has done some incredible work for Saddle Creek art-rockers Young Jesus and experimental punks Behavior in the past.
Speaking about the forthcoming project, Half Stack state: “Wings Of Love is our second album. As a whole, its a mix of the 60s/Dead influences from our earlier music with more pure country and country-rock sounds. A lot of the songs on this record were deliberately written to be more country sounding, incorporating pedal steel, piano, and acoustic guitars more heavily. We’re often described as a country band, but I’ve felt the music was more country-influenced. So for this record, we tried to make a few truer country and country-rock songs. You can still hear Jerry on this record, but it’s a little more subtle. This record was written during times of personal change for all of us. A large theme is an uncertainty about life as you’re going through it. We’re happy for this record to finally see the light of day. We hope it can bring some joy in weird times”
The ‘Wings Of Love’ album is a standout release from the fast-rising band and is a brilliant sophomore LP that allows for the group to take sonic risks as they continue to develop their unique sound. This new record also gives Half Stack the chance to truly come into their own as vocalists and songwriters.
