LIVE REVIEW: Katie Rigby @ The Fiddlers Elbow, London
Last night (Saturday, April 26th), on-the-rise British country music singer/songwriter Katie Rigby brought her ‘Past Life Cowgirl’ tour to London for the last night of the run of dates that saw her previously play in Glasgow and her hometown of Manchester.
For the final night of the tour in London, Katie was joined by fellow Northerners Jake O’Neill and Jeorgia Rose, who both performed stellar sets to the packed room ahead of Rigby’s headline set, showcasing the breadth of talent within the burgeoning UK country music scene.
This is the first time Katy Rigby has headlined a tour, and she did not disappoint. She has been steadily building a fanbase across Britain over the past couple of years and won more fans during her brilliant sets at C2C Festival at the O2 Arena back in March, further demonstrating her strong lyrical ability and authentic country tone.
The ‘Past Life Cowgirl’ tour has given the Mancunian the opportunity to play out her growing catalogue to attendees including the moving ‘Butterfly’ and inspirational ‘Luke Combs’, and the fantastic ‘Past Life Cowgirl’ track which acts as the catalyst for this tour and is a major breakout for Rigby with the track recently hitting 100,000 streams on Spotify.
Katie Rigby’s vocal and lyrical talent is undeniable, but it’s her humour, warmth and personality that set her apart from the current crop of artists breaking through within the country scene. She is a remarkable talent, and her on-stage presence mixed with her stellar artistry made for a truly memorable night in London.
