LIVE REVIEW: Twinnie – Headline Tour September 2021
Kicking off in Leeds at the Lending Room venue after an 18-month wait, Britain’s answer to Shania Twain, Twinnie began her eight-city jaunt in support of her incredible 2020 debut album ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ which saw her performing to thousands of fans across the UK on her first headline tour.
A powerful vocalist and electric live performer the York singer/songwriter dominated the stage and showcased her vocal prowess with a string of live dates that took her to the aforementioned Leeds, Bournemouth, Manchester, Glasgow, York, Birmingham, London, and Bristol on what was a truly spectacular showcase.
Reeling off her hits such as ‘I Love You Now Change’, ‘Hollywood Gypsy’, ‘Social Babies’, and ‘Better When I’m Drunk’, Twinnie had the crowd in the palm of her hand every night where mass sing-a-longs ensued whilst ballads ‘Superhero’, and ‘Lie To Me’ allowed her the opportunity to put the spotlight on her remarkable voice.
A skilled performer, Twinnie was born to entertain and in whichever city she landed she delivered a sparkling performance that is reminiscent of early 1990s Shania Twain dominance when females ran the country-pop world. There doesn’t seem to be anything that the Brit can’t do and this headline concert tour proved that in abundance.
New tracks including ‘My Songs’, ‘Something Or Somebody’, ‘I Know A Woman’, and ‘One Heart’ meanwhile gave fans a little taste of what to expect from her forthcoming EP which is slated for release in January 2022 and showcased her ever continuing sonic evolution that sees her straddling the pop-country worlds.
Support act Juna N Joey also shone with the brother-sister duo delivering stunning sibling harmonies each night with a vocal maturity way beyond their 16 and 19 years – US country music is in safe hands with these two as they move forward to becoming the next breakout sensations.
The whole tour felt like a blur of epic live performances from Twinnie, and support and was a whirlwind of stunning orchestrated on-stage entertainment that left the crowds spellbound long after the English performer had left the stage each night. Twinnie has proven once and for all that she is the one British solo artist truly capable of breaking into the mainstream market across the globe.
