Megan O’Neill Releases New Single ‘Fire With Fire’

Irish country music inspired singer/songwriter Megan O’Neill returns with her stunning Americana infused single ‘Fire With Fire’ which has been co-written with fellow Irish performer Orla Gartland and together they have created a glorious picturesque offering that blends together the sonic sounds of both country and Americana.

The empowering lyrical story has been inspired by what it is really like being a woman in the often male-dominated music industry and what it is like experiencing the disheartening hostility that can come sometimes come from other women who should be standing shoulder to shoulder as they look to break down barriers.

Speaking on the track and its inspiration, Megan O’Neill states: “I think it’s because we [women] have been so conditioned to believe there is only a limited number of spaces for us in the entertainment industries and so we compete with other women for these limited spaces. Orla and I wrote Fire With Fire about our experiences with this not-so-healthy competition amongst some women. Fire With Fire carries the message that it absolutely doesn’t need to be this way. There is enough space for us all and definitely, in recent years with the highlighting of Gender Disparity in the industry, more space is being created all the time.

Obviously I have many incredible female friends and colleagues in the music industry and am so grateful for all of the amazing women I’ve met throughout my career – so this song is clearly not directed at all women!! But my wish for this song is that it empowers those women who aren’t necessarily working together to do so – to lift each other up.”

The powerful track has been produced by The Dunwells who have done an excellent job in creating a sonic backdrop that perfectly brings the song’s story to life whilst also allowing enough room for Megan’s incredible soaring vocal range to truly shine. It is a wonderfully constructed production and elevates the track to intoxicating new heights.

Megan O’Neill is one of the most exciting voices coming out of Ireland and her heady musical mix of country, folk, and Americana make her one of the most interesting artists on the scene and with ‘Fire With Fire’ she takes her career to the next level as she delivers a gorgeous, inspiring hit.
