Nathan Sheridan Releases New Single ‘Take It Away’

Having begun his musical journey within the Contemporary Christian Music genre where he made quite a name for himself, Nathan Sheridan started to fall in deeper love with folk/Americana styles and discovered that he felt there was more scope for honesty, and raw emotions that he felt were lacking within CCM.

So deciding that the folk/Americana genre was where he wanted his music to fit, Sheridan quickly began crafting songs that fitted into that realm which was the first time he felt he was able to truly be himself within his lyrics and sonic styles and not have to worry about fitting into one mold. He was free to blend genres such as folk, Americana, and country.

The result was a freeing sensibility which resulted in the release of the single ‘Again’ which quickly garnered attention from industry insiders thanks to the standout lyrical story and Nathan Sheridan’s powerful vocal display. The song was also picked up by CMT paving the way for the singer/songwriter to become a fully-fledged country crossover star.

And now he is ready to wow once again this time with the release of his stunning new single ‘Take It Away’ which is a powerful offering from the rising sensation as he delves into his faith, and relationship with God within the lyrical story making it a deeply personal and honest song.

Speaking about the track, Nathan Sheridan says: “I kind of wrote this song not knowing exactly what it was about. I knew it was about my faith. Looking back, it’s kind of wrestling with God. Asking him to take away the things in my life that aren’t good for me and to even take away the things I hold dear. My idols. Whether that be my music, money, etc. I don’t necessarily even think it’s a song about salvation, but more likely a recommitment to putting my focus back on Him where it matters. A renewing of my mind. I think other listeners, they could interpret the song completely differently. To me, it’s a special song for that reason. This song has a few different layers to it and is even a bit ambiguous at times. That wasn’t on purpose, but I think it’s appropriate considering we all go through different struggles and it’s nice when a song can speak into those struggles.”
