Single Review: Diplo FT Danielle Bradbery and Zac Brown’s ‘Hometown’

Diplo (Thomas Wesley) is fast becoming one of the most impressive country crossover artists and for his latest release he has teamed up with country music powerhouses Danielle Bradbery and Zac Brown and the result is truly phenomenal. The song has been lifted off Diplo’s ‘Chapter 1 – Snake Oil’ project.

Steeped in classic country esque production values with a modern lyrical approach this offering is a real marker of what Diplo represents and what he hopes to convey with the rest of his musical output this year and beyond. The added bonus of Danielle Bradbery’s sweet yet powerful vocal elevates the track to heady new heights and the rich voice of Zac Brown adds a further exciting element.

Telling the story of where they came from and how a hometown plays a major part in who you are today; “show you who I was, everything it don’t have, everything it does let me show you where I’m from cos it made me who I become” – a relatable tale of wanting to return to a simpler time whilst wanting to spread your wings and leave that little town, while at the same time wanting to show off that little piece of a street that helped shape you into who you are right now.

This offering is a strong release from Diplo and also allows for Danielle Bradbery to reach a wider audience as she continues the lead-up to her third album, and Zac Brown is an incredible artist and his involvement on this song allows it to take on a new life.

‘Hometown’ is a major standout release and one that will become a huge festival staple when the festival season returns, expect this to have plenty of airplay across the US in particular as it looks set to become a huge smash-hit across the globe.
