SINGLE REVIEW: Ward Thomas’ Cover Of ‘Yellow’
British country music duo Ward Thomas have a beautiful way of taking any song from any genre and totally stripping it back to a country Esque core, making it uniquely their own and they have done that once again with their sublime rendition of Coldplay’s global smash-hit ‘Yellow’.
Their version of the indie-pop single is truly divine as the twin sisters deliver a heartfelt acapella cover making for a spine-tingling makeover of the song that is one of the most famous tracks of the modern music landscape. If Coldplay hear this they will surely be blown away by the twins’ harmonies.
The way Ward Thomas’ vocals bleed into each other is mesmerizing as they share what can only be described as a soaring, incredible rendition. There is something wonderful about hearing Catherine and Lizzy’s voices totally stripped of any production and this acapella version allows their vocals to shine like never before.
There are very few acts within the country music scene that possess the vocal control, and effortless soaring harmony that the record makers possess, and with this release, they showcase to the world that they are two of the finest musicians the UK music scene has ever produced.
Overall, Ward Thomas deliver a poignant stripped back version of ‘Yellow’ that is one of if not the most stunning renditions of the pop classic as they strip away all production overlay and lay their sublime vocal harmonies bare in this breathtaking acapella cover making it one of the best releases of the 21st century.
