SINGLE REVIEW: Ward Thomas FT Dan Owen’s ‘Someone to Someone’
Ward Thomas have teamed up with English singer/songwriter Dan Owen for the release of their breathtaking new single ‘Someone to Someone’ which is the third track to be lifted off their forthcoming EP ‘The Space Between’ which is slated for release this Summer and promises to be one of the most relatable projects of the year.
The new single is an honest and emotive take on the consequences of online trolling – a poignant lyrical story of how an innocent life gets snatched away due to the constant stream of hate-filled comments. A timely reminder that every word cuts deep and has the power to either lift up or tear down another person.
Being shared as Mental Health Awareness week in May came to a close made this further amplify the strong message weaved throughout; be kind. A simple thing but for some an impossible act. Hopefully, the strong words and the images they conjure will make a person step back and think before they hit send on that unnecessary and hurtful comment.
Vocally, ‘Someone to Someone’ shines a light on Ward Thomas’ spinetingling vocal harmony while the added addition of Dan Owen and his strong, rough-edged voice lifts it up to another level making it truly stand out as one of the very best singles of the year.
Poignant, emotive, and relatable this offering from the Hampshire twin sisters allows them to deliver a heartfelt track steeped in old-school country music styles whilst also leaning into the pop singer/songwriter realm. Emotional and moving ‘Someone to Someone’ will hit hard and leave a lasting legacy; this has the potential to become the Ward Thomas song, a track that is their staple and one that everyone will state when asked to name a song from the duo.
