Song Of The Week – Dom Martin’s ’12 Gauge’
Here at Music and Tour News HQ, we are thrilled to be continuing our partnership with the amazing folk over at Modern Age Music to bring you our chosen Song Of The Week every Monday evening and we are absolutely delighted to announce Dom Martin’s ’12 Gauge’ as this weeks pick.
The latest release from the Americana performer has been lifted off of his new, upcoming full-length studio album ‘A Savage Life’ which is slated to drop on Friday, April 8th across all leading platforms with the record expected to spearhead an exhilarating new chapter for the singer/songwriter.
With ’12 Gauge’ which is the first single to be officially shared from the forthcoming LP’s tracklist, Dom Martin delivers a luscious Irish-rock vibe that combines with acoustic Blues vibes to create an intoxicating roots/Americana soundscape that is uniquely his own and gives a fantastic taste of what’s to come from the album.
The Northern-Irish artist is hailed by many critics and fans alike as Blues’ biggest Irish export since the iconic guitarist Rory Gallagher, and with this new single ’12 Gauge’ he certainly lives up to that billing with a track that is steeped in classic roots sounds making it an instant fan favourite.
Speaking about his forthcoming LP, Dom says: “In some respects, the new album is like my 2019 debut album “Spain to Italy,” but still very different. It’s a mixture of acoustic solo and electric just like the first one, however, on this new one, I really wanted to keep this album under-produced so I can reproduce the tracks in a live setting. Similarly, to the ‘Spain to Italy’ album, the tracks on ‘A Savage Life’ are mostly based on my own life experiences. I seldom like listening to my own work, but I am proud of what I’ve done on the new album. I think I’ve got that under-produced sound I wanted. Many of the tracks were just one take and that’s the way I like it. ‘A Savage Life’ is another part of my life story and is also, in a small part, in memory of a great friend who passed away in 2021. It’s my blues, it’s real and I have to live with it!”
