The Shires Announce ‘Bonfire’ Album, UK Tour, and Release ‘Getaway Car’
It’s hard to believe that four years have passed since British country duo The Shires released their Top 5 hit album ‘10 Year Plan‘, which was their fifth Top 10 album in eight years, but the pair have certainly been kept busy during that break, which was prompted by Crissie becoming a mum to twin girls.
That was the first time they had had the chance to take a step back in a decade and really take stock of their incredible achievements in that time, and delve deeper into where they wanted to take The Shires’ sound on this new record, and Ben and Crissie have certainly found something special with the new single ‘Getaway Car’ and upcoming album ‘Bonfire’ which drops on July 3.
Speaking about the forthcoming LP, Ben states: “This is easily the most instinctive album we’ve ever made. Out went overthinking, multiple takes and layers of production. If it was fun, we went with it.”
That is certainly captured on lead single ‘Getway Car’, which is a fresh and contemporary offering that captures the ‘Bonfire’ record’s escapist nature. It is a thumping kick drum, upbeat acoustic guitar track that drives you to its instant, air-punching chorus.
Speaking about the single, Crissie says: ““Getaway Car” is about that one person who can take the wheel when life gets hard to navigate. It’s a foot stompin’, hand clappin’ festival sing-along song and a fresh new sound of The Shires!”
Along with the new music news, The Shires have also confirmed that they will be joining Garth Brooks at Hyde Park this summer, and have announced their upcoming UK November headline tour.
