Twinnie Shares ‘Whiplash’ Video

Following on from the release of the ‘More’ music video back in June of this year, country-pop powerhouse Twinnie has returned with the stunning visual for ‘Whiplash’ which is the latest single to be officially lifted off her impressive debut album ‘Hollywood Gypsy’ which dropped in April.

The cinematic clip was filmed in London during the month of June just as the UK government began to ease lockdown restrictions in England which allowed the York singer/songwriter the opportunity to put the video shoot together with Fraser Taylor directing the official music video whilst adhering to all social distancing guidelines.

Speaking to BBC Introducing York last month about the inspiration behind the lyrics, Twinnie stated: “It was inspired by a motorbike accident I was in about 10 years ago with my ex. I remember being on the back of the bike, not really thinking about the consequences if I came off it and hurt myself. I was just enjoying the adrenaline and rush, and it was the first and last time that I’ve ever been on a bike. And I just thought it was a really cool concept of a song, relating it to a relationship of how you know they’re not really right for you but you do it anyway because you’re enjoying the drama and thrill of it”.

And the anthemic crossover track is brought to life in a hugely impressive way with the MV set against the gritty cityscape and stunning country landscape which offers a stunning visual dynamic that gives a gorgeous boost of colour which is in stark contrast to the moody, dark urban shots.

The imagery also evokes summery feelings of freedom and the heady high of falling for someone even though you know the relationship isn’t exactly the most stable, it brings to life that intoxicating vibe of risk-taking and adrenaline rush that comes from being with somebody that pushes you to step out of your comfort zone whether it be right or wrong.

The combination of both dark and light offers a standout visual display which brings the lyrical story of ‘Whiplash’ to life and delivers the very best music video from Twinnie to date. As an actress and performer, the English artist knows how to make a video treatment jump off the page, and with this stellar offering, she has given fans a truly outstanding clip that is one of the most outstanding music videos you’re likely to see this year.
