VIRTUAL LIVE REVIEW: Sarah Darling @ Analog
Adopted Brit Sarah Darling is a familiar face to UK country music fans having toured extensively across the country over the past five years, however, this year she has been unable to perform in Britain due to the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic but that hasn’t stopped the singer/songwriter from keeping the music playing.
Following a string of live-stream shows across Facebook that have kept fans entertained throughout quarantine, last night (October 24th) Sarah delivered a stunning full band show live from the Analog venue in Nashville which is situated in the Hutton Hotel. The showcase was a fully produced virtual gig, and it was truly magical.
There is something mesmerizingly beautiful about watching Sarah Darling perform live, she pulls you into a dream-like world where anything seems possible and where dreams really do come true. Her voice is like liquid gold whilst her on-stage presence is that of a born performer and the concert from Analog was a wonderful reminder of how much we all need live music in our lives.
Taking to the stage at 10 pm BST, Darling began the set with the pop drenched ‘Call Me’ which got the party started before she rattled through some of her biggest hits such as ‘Where Cowboys Ride’, ‘Blue Sky’, and ‘Fire’ there was also sweet moment within the set where she talked about how much she misses being on the road and playing in person for fans which led to ‘Shine’ being dedicated to those tuning in across the globe.
New songs ‘Hungover’, and ‘Pretender’ also got an outing from the US sweetheart as she gave fans a taste of what’s to come from her forthcoming sixth studio album which is slated for release in 2021. These tracks shone bright and allowed for the Nashville based artist to showcase her immense vocal talent and stellar storytelling skill.
Of course, there was also time for a cover or two, with Sarah delivering a mesmerizing vocal performance on The Wreckers’ ‘Leave The Pieces’, which could have been an original Darling release had things worked out differently a few years back. While the rendition of Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ was full of summer vibes.
The closer of the set came in the form of ‘Halley’s Comet’ which is one of the most personal songs that Sarah Darling has ever written and released, and as always it was a real highlight of her live show. The connection to the watching audience held strong and there was a spellbound moment of being lost in her voice.
Sarah Darling is without a doubt one of country music’s most divine vocalists and storytellers and last night’s concert was captivating, transportive, and truly magical. It is always a joy to watch the Iowa native get lost in a performance on stage, and the fact that her sweet personality and kind heart still shone brightly via a live-stream rather than an actual in-person intimate gig is a testament to just how brilliant of a live performer she really is.
The overall experience was absolutely phenomenal and with the singer/songwriter promising a Christmas virtual gig is in the pipeline then the magic is only set to continue. Of course, watching her via a screen is not the same as being in the same room listening to her angel-like voice but it is the next best thing.
