Ward Thomas Announced As National Album Day Ambassadors
2020’s National Album Day will be celebrated nationwide on Saturday, October 10th and will celebrate the long-standing format of records as they remain a very important part of the ever-changing music landscape despite the introduction of streaming, and digital download the fact remains that music lovers still get a buzz from purchasing an actual body of work.
Earlier in the year, it was reported that during 2018 over 143 million albums were purchased by listeners across all platforms including physical CDs, vinyl’s, downloads, and streams which resulted in an approximate 1.3 billion pound cash injection at retail an almost 6 percent rise on 2017’s results.
In fact, the format of the LP has become revered in recent times with its popularity only continuing to grow especially in the vinyl world with sales of vinyl’s boosting a 200% rise since its lowest point in 2007 and has reported a year-on-year growth for eleven consecutive years as it continues its new lease of life.
And now on October 10th fans, artists, and industry insiders will come together to celebrate National Album Day as they show their love for the full-length body of work format that has long been a wonderful tradition across the music sector with artists traditionally spending years honing the record ahead of its release.
It has also been confirmed that British country music crossover duo Ward Thomas will be ambassadors for the forthcoming National Album Day. The record-making act will be releasing their fourth studio album ‘Invitation’ a day before the event showcasing that they are true supporters of the album format.
Speaking about their new role and love of the LP, Ward Thomas said: “Albums are so important to us because they are a perfect time capsule showing where a specific artist is at a specific time. By listening to an album in full you can really get to know an artist. There isn’t really anything else that can do that”
Having the vibrant enthusiasm of Ward Thomas on board will no doubt invite a much younger demographic to support the National Album Day and allow those who have yet to fall in love with the album format the opportunity to discover the magic of an actual LP as it continues to gain momentum across the UK.
