Ward Thomas Release New Single ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’

As we take our tentative steps into 2025 with aprehnsion and hope, British country music duo Ward Thomas have given us a gem of a new single to help us ease our way into this new year. Their newest release is the standout ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’ lifted off their 2023 EP ‘From Our Back Pocket’

Fans who have seen them on tour in recent years will be very, very familiar with this offering. It always goes down extremely well when twins Catherine and Lizzy perform it and now it’s finally available to stream and it’s definitely one you will want on repeat. It’s classic Ward Thomas and just beautiful.

The opening lines in particular will strike a chord with listeners who will be able to place themselves within the sombre lyrics “so used to feeling numb that I got happy there no one could overcome this shield of mine if there’s nothing here to break there’s nothing to repair nobody here to lose”.

It does pick up with optisim and hope as the song builds and lends itself to having a positive outlook and how taking a risk on love is always worth it. “Keep your arms around me til I’m warm again til the fear is just a story from the past and the past is like a movie I don’t recognise now all those years behind the mask”.

Catherine and Lizzy (Ward Thomas) are two of the finest lyricists the UK has ever created and they just know what to say and how to say it in a way that will hit fans right where it needs to and ‘This Is Gonna Hurt’ is no different. It is another truly fantastic release from the pair and builds nicely on previous success and leads them into their new tour dates.
