Kenny Foster Releases New Single ‘Poor Kids’
Ahead of the release of his hotly anticipated new studio album ‘Somewhere In Middle America’, country music hitmaker Kenny Foster has this past week delivered his latest single titled ‘Poor Kids’ which is available to stream and download worldwide across all leading digital platforms right now.
The forthcoming LP from the American singer/songwriter will be released exclusively to the Foster Fam subscribers on July 29th before being made available to all audiences this coming October – so dedicated listeners will have those songs for quite some time before the record hits the mainstream market.
And ‘Poor Kids’ has given Kenny Foster the platform to further tease what’s to be expected from the upcoming body of work that is set to be his best collection yet and if this track is anything to go by then both fans and critics alike are in for a real treat when that soundtrack finally arrives in their ears.
The track is a bittersweet ode to his childhood and takes a deeper look at how he dealt with childhood bullying and the trauma that leaves behind and the weight that he carries with him into adulthood – it is powerful, relatable, moving and one of Kenny Foster’s very best releases to date.
Speaking about the song, Kenny says: “Kids can be cruel. As if growing up wasn’t hard enough, you had these little jerks to contend with. They’d say stuff just to be mean, even if it wasn’t true. I can’t imagine how much of their self-worth and brain space was wrapped up in their ability to put others down. As I get older I realize some of those kids never grew out of that phase. Brendan brought a great idea to the room that day, and it only got richer as Chris and I added our pictures and experiences to the story. It needed to be both nostalgic and present, a reminder that no matter what “they” call you, there’s a truth separate from a name, moniker, tag, or stigma. There’s a real-life being lived behind every insult, and more often than not: it’s sweeter than the words that get picked.”
