EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Juna N Joey Talks New Single ‘Til Your Heart Breaks’

On-the-rise country-pop sibling duo Juna N Joey are fast becoming one of the most revered acts within the genre and having won an army of fans in the UK during their support slot on Twinnie’s 2021 tour they have now released their latest single ‘Til Your Heart Breaks’ which further pushes them toward global mainstream success.

Here we chat exclusively with Juna N Joey to discuss the track in more detail:

Congratulations on the new single, how have you found the response so far?

Juna – We were invited to iHeart to do an interview in Atlanta WUBL. We are in the lineup for both National and Regional radio in the UK and our SM numbers have increased tremendously. We were premiered on all our acoustic, lyric and audio versions in major publications and even going on a major news outlet tomorrow and also being featured in Maverick Music Magazine and Music Row stations adding as we speak.

Joey – Pretty overwhelming we won disc of the day in Iowa at KIXX radio, we charted on two college charts, the DJ feedback is that they are saying it’s a hit and requests from fans every time we go live on SM

How did you find the overall writing process for this song?

Juna – We wanted to write a love song for our EP and ironically, we wrote this with a brother and sister writing team Kayliann and Doug Lowe who are amazing and are helping us to shape the sound of our first EP.

Joey – We walked into the co-write, Doug Lowe, a brilliant composer and writer had the piano part started, we did not realize it would be a power ballad. I think the arrangement is what makes it special.

What was the main driving force behind choosing this as your next official single?

Juna – The driving force is definitely getting our music noticed on Spotify, that’s our main goal and gathering fans worldwide. We had an idea after our Twinnie tour that fans would view this song favourably and Spotify, Apple and Amazon playlisted us as well, so I feel we made a good choice.

Joey – The main driving force is that the fall is usually ballad season in country music and many artists were put on the map with their heartfelt ballads. The summer is for up rocking tunes and we had one of each and it just came down to the time of year, so we went for the ballad and it’s overlapping into Valentine’s Day so it worked out, I know V Day is for love, however, not everyone has a significant other, some people lost their loves so it also speaks to these folks also

You had a great response every night in the UK when you supported Twinnie, how much did that influence you in choosing to release the track?

Juna – Well it had a lot to do with it, the validation of the crowd feedback that they gave us was amazing and they seem to love the song, so it definitely gave us the confidence to release it now

Joey – Definitely had a huge impact on my feeling that we could release this song and our fanbase would respond favourably –each night fans were saying it was their favourite song of the set and that was a little surprising since young people love the up rockin’ tunes. English fans know their music and appreciate a well-produced and written song. It was really cool.

How are you finding the UK country fanbase in terms of support for your music?

Juna – The overwhelming response we had was much greater than we felt would happen even though we were told they would respond well to our style of music.

Joey – Our manager said she loves the UK fans because of their appreciation, and knowledge of good music, however, every night we were still thinking about how awesome it was to hear the love of this song and our music, especially cause we are young and new to the UK country music scene and they bought a ton of merc. It was validating, to say the least.

Can we expect this offering to be the launchpad of a studio album?

Juna – We have this song on our first self-titled EP and we will release the whole EP shortly after we release the acoustic version of “‘Til Your Heart Breaks” digitally. COVID dictated the length of our first EP.

Joey – And in the meantime, we are working on our second EP and maybe it will turn into a full album it is in discussion. A lot of producers that we want to work with are backed up due to the situation so that will determine the length of this next recording process.

Looking ahead, what else does 2022 hold for you two?

Juna – We will be again steadily doing press, working a lot on content ideas for our digital channels and writing music for the next EP. We have some local festivals at the beginning of this year, a pre-Kentucky Derby gig and waiting to hear about a big tour and of course, Joey and I are looking forward to playing the Opry, fingers crossed.

Joey – We have been getting booked and getting paid which is nice and so far we have two bookings in the UK. And you will be happy to know that our manager wanted to venture into Wales, where I believe you are from (Music and Tour News) and on our last tour we were not able to do that, so we will be doing Welshstock this year and Tennessee Fields so far, we are coming back to the UK and we are so anxious to get there.
