Caitlin Quisenberry Releases New Single ‘I Always Wanted To’
Following on from the release of a ton of original music over the past few months, country music singer/songwriter Caitlin Quisenberry delivers a stunning cover of Cody Johnson’s ‘I Always Wanted To’ today (Friday, February 11th) with the track available to stream and download across all digital platforms.
This is the first official cover release from the American rising star and it is one that perfectly suits her vocal range and overall artistic aesthetic with the song allowing her the opportunity to shine a light on her soaring voice and stellar artistry – this is yet another brilliant release from the multi-skilled artist.
It’s a tearjerker with lyrics that make you look deep within and have a reflective nature and Caitlin Quisenberry does a wonderful job of making the track her own with the Allen Shamblin, Tom Douglas (writers of Miranda Lambert’s hit “The House That Built Me”) and Jordyn Shellhart penned hit taking us through the journey of the mind of a 95-year-old man.
Speaking about the release, Caitlin says: “I’ve been aching to record this song for over a year now. When it was pitched to me, I immediately fell in love with it, but it was quickly snatched up by another artist – Cody Johnson. When I heard him sing it, coupled with the fact that he is one of my favourite artists, my desire to cover his song was put into motion. The lyrics are both sad and inspirational. They remind me of my ageing grandparents and all they’ve gone through; but at the same time, the words have also inspired me to do the things ‘I always wanted to’ do. It’s not often when a song is so powerful it changes the trajectory of your life, and that’s what this song has done for me.”
It is a truly remarkably well-written song and Quisenberry does a stellar job of bringing a new feeling to the deeply powerful words as she puts her own unique spin on the track whilst continuing to retain the magic of the original.
