Emilia Quinn Announces New Single ‘Girl Talk’
On-the-rise country powerhouse Emilia Quinn is ready to get people talking with her latest single titled ‘Girl Talk’ which will be released across all leading digital download and streaming platforms from March 8th and is being shared to celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day.
For the forthcoming release, Quinn has also enlisted the talents of 22 female-identifying artists to help push the message even further and really open up a conversation on what obstacles women face daily, whether that be online or offline, it’s sadly something a lot of women have to endure regularly.
The lyrics focus on the challenges that are placed in front of women, particularly those in the music industry whether that be casual sexism, being ghosted, or the expectation to fit a certain aesthetic, it’s a tongue-in-cheek observation and plays up to the stereotype of these issues but the undercurrent message is of unity and calling out for change.
Speaking about the project, Emilia Quinn says: “The concept of Girl Talk came about while discussing experiences in and out of the industry with some of my friends. I wrote the song to poke fun at common issues women face, not to detract from the gravity of those situations but to give womxn a track that figuratively flips the bird at the perpetrators. The scale of the project grew and ‘Girl Talk’ became a way of fighting back to the gender imbalance in the music industry. Women are underrepresented a lot of the time so this is my way of showcasing some major female talent in the UK scene. Despite the serious underlying message, the track is a fun, upbeat tune for everyone to enjoy. The point of the project is to build a community and empower everyone, one chorus at a time.”
The track features an array of incredible female artists from different backgrounds and who are at different levels with their careers but have one thing in common; they have all faced criticisms just because they are women. On International Women’s Day, they will call out those actions with ‘Girl Talk’.
