EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Luke Flear Talks Career Highlights, and Upcoming Single

British country artist Luke Flear had a huge breakout 2024, and he is building on that success in 2025 with his outstanding single ‘April Again’ releasing on April 18th. Here, we chat exclusively with Luke to discuss his 2024 highlights, new release, and much more.

First off, congratulations on a huge 2024. What has the past 12 months been like for you?

Thank you so much! It’s definitely been a bit of a game-changing 12 months for me, and although you have to keep things moving forward at the same pace, it has felt so rewarding to stop for a second and look back at what a year 2024 turned out to be.

You played C2C last year and then subsequently supported Drake Milligan on tour. What were those experiences like for you?

They were special. Both C2C and supporting Drake Milligan on his tour were two examples of moments that I had dreamt about since I first started playing music… big crowds and incredible venues, performing songs that I’d written in my bedroom to so many different people. I think coming back off of those experiences has taught me so much, and I’m so thankful for them.

How would you sum up the past twelve months in terms of career trajectory?

It’s helped shape a direction for me- as I’ve now ticked off things which have been huge aims of mine for such a long time, which means I feel ready for new challenges and opportunities that I know I wouldn’t have been as prepared for without achieving those things.

How do you plan on building on last year’s success?

My plan over the last 2 years was to cover as much ground as possible, and I’m lucky enough to achieved that through extensive performing and travelling- including a month long songwriting and performing trip in Nashville. My current plan is to now focus on new music- through songwriting, recording and releasing as much as I can, as well as continuing on everything I have been working on.

Of course, you have the new single out this month. What can fans expect from that one?

With it being my first release of music since my debut album 3 years ago, I wanted this first release to be a song that was special, authentic and a genuine example of where I am currently as a songwriter. I suppose it’s quite “Americana” in style, and lyrically drawn from a very personal experience- making it a a ballad that definitely feels like it’s the best way to begin this new chapter of music.

What was the writing process like for this release?

This song definitely came from those magical moments. I’d had melodies and random lyrics in my head for months that hadn’t found a place in a song yet, and then all of a sudden, I realised exactly what kind of song they should belong to. The minute I’d made the decision on the title and lyrical content, the song came together in one night. I wrote it last April and have waited for the right moment, 12 months on, to get it out there.

Looking ahead, what else does 2025 hold for you?

I would love to keep the momentum of taking further big steps, and I know that will all come down to me and my own decisions. My plans are to release as much new music as possible and explore new and different opportunities that I haven’t yet explored, as well as simply continuing with everything that has led me to where I am now!
