EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Remember Monday Talk New Single ‘Famous’, Touring, and Upcoming EP

Having been a band for more than a decade three-piece country-pop offering Remember Monday took the plunge and quit their day jobs in 2023 to pursue music full-time and that decision is paying dividends for the girls who recently wrapped a support slot on Dasha’s UK tour and will headline their own run of dates this November.

Here we speak exclusively with Remember Monday to discuss touring, their new single ‘Famous’, and upcoming EP ‘Crazy Anyway’.

Thank you so much. That was the best experience. It feels like she’s kind of taking over at the moment.

Honestly, we begged haha. We literally begged for it and started posting covers of all her songs on TikTok and obviously, we’re with Live Nation and so is she, so we had our agent working on it too so we kind of came from three angles and it worked haha.

Oh, it’s going to be so fun. I know we’re a bit biased but I think our headline shows are always so much fun. Expect lots of covers and originals. For us, being in a band full-time was always the goal and to us, that means being in a van on the road so we’re so excited. We love playing shows and the tickets are selling so well in places like Leeds which we’ve never been to which is just incredible. We’re so excited and we’re hoping to see some of the towns too if we have the time.

Honestly, it’s been hard at times but it’s what’s always been the goal having been in a band for 15 years and doing it as a hobby at times. But it was last year that we had to turn down a lot of opportunities because of our jobs so we all kind of looked at each other and went “I think we need to do this”. It’s been amazing but there were moments when one of us would be going “Oh God, I can’t do this” or crying but yeah it’s been so much fun too.

Yes, so we quit our jobs in September last year and then in October we went to Nashville and got flown out to LA to be on the Jennifer Hudson show which was just incredible. We had the best time running around Broadway in Nashville and then being able to fly to LA was incredible and kind of validated our decision to quit our jobs and do this full-time. There was also a moment of realisation when we played the Omeara and sold it out in like 15 minutes and we didn’t know a single person in the crowd, we were like “We can actually make it”

Yes, we’re so excited. We always feel we need to set this up before we play it live, the story behind it is that it’s about one of our exes, as all songs are haha. He never really believed in us as a band and said we were going to make it and all this stuff so we decided in order to get back at him we would become famous so that’s our revenge.

Honestly it’s been amazing having played it out live a few times. People were coming up to us and being like “This is your best song ever” which is insane to us as we’re playing it acoustically with none of the production. People seem to be relating which is so good and hopefully it’ll do okay haha.

Yes, we actually have a five-track EP releasing October 18th and then the plan next year is for the album.

Oh, that’s so tough. I think it’s the little moments and just being together on tour and all of that. Obviously the Jennifer Hudson show was amazing but yeah these little moments in between have all been highlights.
