EXCLUSIVE: The Shires Talk Live Online Concert

On April 10th at 8 pm BST, British country-pop duo The Shires will deliver a full-scale live online concert with tickets for the streamed showcase available now – it’s set to be a huge performance from the duo who haven’t been able to get on stage for over a year due to COVID restrictions.

Here we speak exclusively with The Shires’ Crissie and Ben to discuss the forthcoming event in more detail:

We’re so excited about your livestream show, how does it feel to be performing live again in some capacity?
We didn’t realize how much playing live is a part of our identity. It’s been very strange not being able to do it for so long. To have the opportunity is so exciting and also to know that Stabal can deliver it to our fans at such high quality.

It’s such a tough time for industry right now, how much of a blessing have livestream revenues been for you?
Our band and crew have been the hardest hit. It feels so great to know that they can earn a good day’s pay again.

What’s it been like organizing a show solely for people watching from home?
We wanted to make the most of having cameras really close to us, and give a different experience to our normal live show. We always want to take people on a journey during a set, and what’s nice is we will get to show a more personal side of ourselves in this show.

What was it like to perform in an empty venue?
It’s definitely odd not having people clap after each song. It reminds us of the early days playing in near-empty rooms! Once you get over that though, it feels just amazing to play again.

What can those who have tickets expect from this immersive live experience?
It’s like having the best seat in the house. It was really important for us that the sound quality was really the best it could be, and that is really Stabal’s specialty as a company. We think people are going to be really blown away by the level of the show.

Can you give us a little hint as to what the setlist will be looking like?
Haha. There are definitely a few blasts from the past. Playing songs like Brave and All Over Again similar to how they were originally written and also some songs from our new record. It’s amazing for us to see how far we’ve come over 4 albums.

This will be the first time you’ve really performed your latest record live, how does that feel after so long?
It’s really strange as we haven’t toured our new album at all, so a few of these songs have never seen the stage. It does feel incredible to be doing what we do though after so long. We’ve missed it more than we ever could have imagined.

Along with the live concert, there’s also an extra package available which includes backstage content, what can fans expect from that?
We recorded 3 extra songs, and also a long, in-depth interview. It was so nice to get things off our chest after such a long while away!

You do have actual tour dates lined up for 2022, how excited are you to get back out on the road?

There’s going to be a lot of tears for sure! We just can’t wait to play in front of our fans again and are crossing everything that the world will be back to some kind of normal by then.

Looking ahead, what else do you have lined up this year?
As well as our London to Nashville Radio show on Apple Music, we are writing lots of new songs. Who knows, maybe there will be a new album before the next tour….
