Kerri Watt Announced for #SaveOurScottishVenues Virtual Festival

With a number of grassroots music venues across Scotland and the rest of the UK facing permanent closure due to enforced closures in the face of the nationwide lockdown put in place by the British government in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic, venue space holders are looking for new ways to earn revenue in order to keep their doors open and saveourvenues.co.uk has been launched in order to support these vital spaces.

One of the initiatives set up by the fundraising team is the virtual festival which will be raising money for concert halls in Scotland and will be taking place across three stages will be hosted by Vic Galloway and streamed live across livefrom.events on Friday, June 19th.

Speaking about her involvement in the event, country music singer/songwriter Kerri Watt says: “Like many of my fellow Scottish artists, I came up through the open mics and grassroots venues. I’ve been grateful for the continued support from those venues over the years, especially since moving back home to Scotland. Every venue has a story to tell and people come from all over the world to feel and be a part of the history in the walls, or in the case of King Tuts – on the stairs! For many Scottish artists, our grassroots venues are safe and encouraging spaces to experiment, grow, and communicate our music and messages. I’m really honored to have been invited to be part of the festival, we need music now more than ever and it’s really important we, as artists support the venues that supported us.”

The full line-up of Scottish musicians supporting Scotland’s grassroots music venues is as follows:
KT Tunstall, The Xcerts, Hunter & the Bear, Wet Wet Wet, Be Charlotte, Fatherson, Luke La Volpe, Hue & Cry, Honeyblood, Anchor Lane, Kerri Watt, Seil Lien, Declan Welsh, The Jellyman’s Daughter, and Bow Anderson.

Tickets are priced at £5 to watch in real-time on the day, or £8 for a real-time ticket plus the ability to go back and watch any previous performances for the duration of the weekend. Tickets are on sale now.
