Sunny Ozell Announces New EP ‘Live At The Village’
Country inspired singer/songwriter Sunny Ozell has formally announced details of her forthcoming acoustic EP ‘Live At The Village’. The eagerly anticipated new record will be released on July 17th and features four tracks off her latest album ‘Overnight Lows’ which dropped earlier this year along with a poignant cover of Los Lobos.
The EP project is led by the single ‘Hammer And Nail’ which delivers a divine acoustic production and shines a light on Sunny’s glorious vocals and stellar songwriting skills. The project also promises to be one of the major standout offerings of the year when it drops next month.
Speaking bout her upcoming EP, Sunny Ozell says: “When I’d finished making ‘Overnight Lows’ I’d thought I was done probing these particular songs, but in taking another swing at some of my already completed tunes I was reminded that we’re never really “done”, and that it can be a total pleasure to keep exploring and expanding.
It was such a joy to return to The Village recording studios in Santa Monica late last summer to track some acoustic versions of a select group of my songs. I’d thought I would come away with some stripped-down “coffee house” kinda takes on the material; “acoustic” has often meant to me “soft” or “delicate”. But what these two days of tracking produced was something of a surprise: genuine re-imaginings of the songs themselves, albeit performed by all-acoustic instrumentation”.
The 5-track ‘Live At The Village’ EP is a standout collection and allows the songs to take on a completely new direction whilst breathing new life into the production all the while maintaining the original magic of the recording that features on the ‘Overnight Lows’ album.
