Laura Oakes Announces New Single ‘(Christmas) Won’t Be Christmas’

British country music favorite Laura Oakes is ready to get us all into the festive mood a little early this year with the release of her very first-holiday single. The forthcoming track ‘(Christmas) Won’t Be Christmas’ will be dropping on Friday, November 27th, and is set to find itself on plenty of playlists this festive season.

With 2020 still continuing to test us it seems to have been unanimously agreed that we will be officially celebrating Christmas from November onwards to ensure we get a little cheer in our hearts and thanks to Oakes’ upcoming release we are set to be given another reason to celebrate this month.

With ‘(Christmas) Won’t Be Christmas’, Laura Oakes has delivered a stunning vocal that is simply overlayed by a gorgeous acoustic guitar that allows for her to let her stunning voice shine like never before making this one of her best offerings to date. The release will also feature a B-side addition of ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’.

Speaking about the release, Laura says: “I wrote (Christmas) Won’t Be Christmas, somewhat ironically, on a roasting hot day in August. In
such a tumultuous year, I think I was longing for some kind of calm and comfort that so many of us find in Christmas. I’ve always wanted to write a Christmas song that sounded like it would fit in somewhere on the Carpenters Christmas album and letting myself live in this world of ‘classic Christmas’ while writing allowed me to escape the craziness of this year. The lyrics came extremely quickly. Christmas for most people doesn’t officially start until they’re home around all of the people they love and I was thinking a lot about a Christmas that is likely to be very different this year from any other many of us have experienced. I hope it can provide the same escape and comfort when people hear it as it did for me when I was writing it”.

The stripped back acoustic production featured on the track allows for Laura Oakes to revel in the sentimental lyrical story and showcases her immense songwriting talent as she delivers one of the best Christmas songs you are going to hear this year. This feels like an instant classic.
