LIVE REVIEW: Charles Esten @ London Palladium

Last night (Friday, April 26th) US artist Charles Esten brought his Love Aint Pretty tour to London’s iconic venue the London Palladium for an up-close and personal concert in support of his stunning debut album also titled ‘Love Ain’t Pretty’ and did not disappoint and left the audience wanting more.

Charles “Chip” Esten is a born performer and comes alive in the spotlight, and as he rattled through the tracklist he had genuine warmth and engaging stage presence captivating the sold-out crowd, winning them over even more when he shared sweet stories of his love for his wife Patty and the songs that have been inspired by that relationship.

There’s something truly endearing about Esten as a singer/songwriter and as a person. He radiates a love for the music that he performs and delivers a polished performance time and time again. He has been a fan favourite in the UK for years thanks to his role as Deacon in the TV series Nashville and as a solo artist in his own right he lights up any stage he is on and last night’s showcase was a testament to his artistry and showmanship.

There was also a fantastic Buddy Holly medley in the middle of the set that had the London audience in full voice with plenty of sing-a-long moments littered throughout. Charles Esten knows how to get a crowd engaged and last night was no different, he had that room in the palm of his hand.

Another standout moment came when fellow Nashville star Sam Palladio made a surprise appearance joining Charles on stage. The venue erupted, resulting in a standing ovation. A truly iconic moment that will live long in the memory of those in attendance. Sam joined Charles on stage once again for the encore of the heartfelt prayer/song ‘A Life That’s Good’ which felt like being transported to church to bring the curtain down on a truly memorable concert.
