LIVE REVIEW: Country On The Common Festival

Yesterday (Saturday, July 5th), Country On The Common hosted its first ever day of its country music festival held in Tooting, and it was an incredible experience for the 5,000+ attendees and a huge success for the promoters who today (Sunday, July 6th) host day 2 of the London event.

Yesterday’s line-up featured some of the UK’s biggest talents, such as First Time Flyers, Ward Thomas, and The Shires, who all delivered superb sets. It was especially poignant for Ward Thomas and The Shires as they are the spearheads of the UK scene, with the two acts breaking records and really setting a marker for homegrown talent.

So to see them more than a decade on from when they first broke onto the scene when country music in the UK was just breaking through to now seeing them on stage in front of more than 5,000 British country fans was absolutley incredible and a real moment to recognise just how far the scene has come in recent years.

Both Ward Thomas and The Shires delivered memorable performances. The slick harmonies of Ward Thomas are simply divine, while the upbeat energy of The Shires gets everyone going. Both acts are truly remarkable talents and a real credit to the British country music scene. They’re flying the flag with real pride.

Country On The Common delivered a spectacle to remember; they had everything. Fantastic music, fun games, authentic country decor and vibes, and a brilliant selection of food and drink making for a feel-good atmosphere for adults and kids alike. There really was something for everyone, and this festival has so much scope to grow in the coming years.
